Following Microsoft’s deprecation of Exchange Web Services (EWS), users of the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook may notice a delay in the tracking of emails—particularly those containing attachments.
As part of Microsoft’s deprecation of Exchange Web Services (EWS), the App for Outlook now relies on an asynchronous process via Server-Side Synchronisation to track emails with attachments. This includes not only traditional file attachments but also inline images and signature graphics..
What does this mean for users?
- Emails with attachments may take up to 30 minutes to appear in Dynamics 365.
- Emails without attachments (including those without inline images or signature graphics) are expected to synchronise within 15 minutes.
At present, there is no workaround to restore the previous behaviour. However, Microsoft’s Product Team is aware of the issue and is actively working on a new implementation to address it. The current target for this update is the first week of December 2025.
We understand the potential impact this may have on your day-to-day operations and appreciate your patience while Microsoft works towards a resolution.
