Microsoft have introduced two new Copilot Agents that make it even easier for users to build new Apps and Workflows.
What is a Copilot Agent?
A Copilot Agent is an AI-powered assistant that can act on your behalf to automate tasks, monitor context, and carry out workflows across Microsoft 365 apps. These Agents go beyond simple prompts by working proactively and continuously, helping teams save time and boost productivity.
What are the two new Agents?
The ever-growing list of Microsoft’s Copilot Agents now includes:
App Builder Agent
This Agent lets you create and share lightweight, interactive apps. You don’t need coding skills – you open Copilot, describe the app or visualisation you want, and start building instantly.
Use the with App Builder Agent to create new dashboards, charts, calculators, lists, and many other interactive elements. You can then preview and refine your app without leaving Copilot.
The App Builder experience is grounded in your organisation’s own Microsoft 365 data, including documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and notes, and can even generate and store new data using Microsoft Lists as a backend. When you’re ready to share your App, it’s as simple as sharing a document.
Should you wish to store your data in a different data source to Microsoft Lists, you may want to consider building a Power App instead.
Workflows Agent
Automate tasks like sending emails and reminders, managing calendars, and sharing team updates, just by describing what you want. Copilot converts your words into automated flows across Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Planner, and services like Approvals.
As the flow is being constructed, you’ll see each step in real time, making the process easy to follow and understand. If you need to add more steps, or adjust the flow behavior, you can make requests in the same Copilot conversation.
The Workflows Agent is optimised for end users but built on the same infrastructure that powers Agent Flows, making it easy to transition to the full Copilot Studio editor in the future for more advanced customisation.
When will these new Agents become available?
For customers signed up to the Frontier program, Microsoft’s showcase of their experimental AI Agents, both of the Agents are available now. In early 2026, the Agents will become generally available globally.
Summary
Microsoft continue to build upon their AI technologies to develop new Agents across all of their products and these two Agents are no exception. These Agents make it even easier for end users to get the most from their data, without breaking the bank.
