Microsoft have introduced Dataverse search, which helps users quickly find what they are looking for and provides several other benefits.
What is Dataverse search?
Dataverse search helps deliver fast search results in a single list, sorted by relevance. With Dataverse search enabled, it is easier for users to quickly find the information they are looking for. A search box is available at the top of every page in your model-driven app, and, when enabled, becomes the default and only global search experience.
What are the benefits of Dataverse search?
Dataverse search improves upon the previous functionality and provides users many benefits which include:
- Fast and accurate search: Provides a precise and quick search experience and provides superior functionality to the previous quick find search or formerly known as categorized search.
- Improved matching: Dataverse search can find matches to any word in the search term for columns in a table. Previously, all words in the search term would have to be found in one column.
- Smart: Finds matches that include inflectional words, such as stream, streaming, or streamed.
- Ability to search across documents in Microsoft Dataverse: Includes search results for text in documents that are stored in Dataverse, such as PDF, Microsoft Office documents, HTML, XML, ZIP and more. It also searches text in notes and attachments.
- Operators for advanced search: You can craft a query to get the exact results you want.
- Intelligence: Applies AI technology to interpret natural language, such as misspellings, common abbreviations, and synonyms, to deliver quality results.
How to enable Dataverse search?
To enable Dataverse search, follow these actions:
- In the Power Platform admin center, select an environment.
- Select Settings > Product > Features.
- Under Search, set Dataverse search to On.
- Select Save.
