Dynamics 365 & Power Platform Release Wave 2020

Microsoft announce measures to mitigate upgrade risks

John PhillipsProduct Updates

With the Coronavirus causing disruption worldwide for businesses large and small, Microsoft have responded with the relaxing of some of the scheduled update and deprecation dates for Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform in 2020.

What updates are affected?

There are two key updates:

  • For the Wave 1 2020 release, originally scheduled to automatically roll-out in April, this has now been extended to May 2020. Customers can still apply the update in April as originally planned, but if more time is now required, they will be able to use the extra month to allow for more time to prepare.
  • The legacy web client for Dynamics 365, originally scheduled for deprecation in October 2020, has now had its deadline moved to December 2020 instead.

Microsoft hope that by affording customers this extra time, the transition into the April Wave 1 release and the new Unified Interface should remain a smooth one.

For clients of Strategy 365, if you have questions about your scheduled Dynamics 365 dates, please get in touch.
