Microsoft’s latest enhancements look set to change how Copilot can be used with data and apps from Dynamics 365, the Power Platform and beyond.
Existing Copilot users will be familiar with its power to surface data from a wide range of sources, but some actions have required accessing the AI assistant from specific areas of the Microsoft platform. That will change with the aid of two significant changes:
1. Interact with business applications within Copilot
When inside the main Copilot interface, a user should be able to access their key business data without having to leave, and this update will initially allow Copilot to present data from:
- Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Microsoft Power Platform
- Adobe Express
- Adobe Acrobat
- Base44
- Box
- Canva
- Coursera
- Figma
- Miro
- Monday.com
An example of this integration is a Sales Manager calling upon a custom sales app, built with Power Apps, from within Copilot to compile a list of their latest opportunities, viewing the results in an organised table with filter options as they would in a Power App. Additionally, they can prompt the application to show the results in a map view, all without leaving the Copilot interface.
This fluid method of working ensures that users can work as efficiently as possible and only have to launch other applications when they want to, not because they are forced to. Public preview for this new functionality will be available later this month for Power Apps, with availability for Dynamics 365 Sales and Dynamics 365 Customer Service launching in early April 2026. A Microsoft 365 Copilot licence is required to access this functionality. Other integrations will be rolled out from April onwards.
2. Accessing Copilot tools within Dynamics 365 and Power Apps
On the flip side, some users spend their day working in Dynamics 365 and custom Power Apps and shouldn’t have to switch to the Copilot app to carry out other tasks. To rectify this, Microsoft will be introducing the power of Copilot Agents into Dynamics 365 and Power Apps, meaning that tools such as the Researcher and Analyst Agents will be directly available to them without the need to navigate away to Copilot separately.
An example of this would be a salesperson working in Dynamics 365 Sales who will now be able to ask Researcher to generate a full account overview: customer relationship management (CRM) context, internal knowledge, and external research combined in one response, all right where they’re already working. This creates a more consistent experience across productivity tools and business applications.
Copilot Agents in Dynamics 365 Sales, Dynamics 365 Customer Service, and canvas apps in Power Apps will be available in public preview by early April 2026. Microsoft 365 Copilot in model-driven apps built with Power Apps will reach general availability by early April 2026. A Microsoft 365 Copilot licence is required, and when used within Power Apps, a Power Apps premium licence is also required.
Work IQ
To power this interactivity between Copilot and these various sources of business data is Work IQ. This is an intelligence layer that connects the various dots so that these pots of data no longer needs to sit in isolation from each other.
Decisions discussed in meetings and email will able to connect to live data in a business application. Changes in one place will appear where attention is needed elsewhere. And because this intelligence is grounded in Dataverse and your organisation’s own data, these important actions will now appear in a wider context.
As an example, if a pricing change is discussed in a meeting, Work IQ understands how that decision would affect active opportunities in Dynamics 365 Sales, presenting the affected opportunities within Copilot for review.
Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence can experience Work IQ with Dataverse integration directly inside Power Apps, Dynamics 365 Sales, and Dynamics 365 Customer Service in public preview from early April 2026.
Summary
Microsoft clearly understands that having powerful tools is all well and good, but when spread across multiple platforms, this just confuses and slows down users. These new enhancements should lead to a more joined-up approach to using Copilot with business data, and we look forward to benefitting from it.
