Microsoft has switched its twice‑yearly biggest announcement events to an always-on AI-first roadmap.
The move will see Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Dataverse announcements join an AI at Work roadmap, providing a single place to plan adoption across Microsoft’s business applications.
Previously, there were Release Wave announcements and major product launch events in the spring and autumn, with hundreds of pages of feature descriptions, scattered blogs and events.
In a statement, Microsoft said: “Bringing this content together means you can see what is coming across all of these products in one view, filter it to your own environment, and plan across products.”
The new updates will be published as soon as Microsoft is ready to share them, rather than being held back until the next six-monthly release cycle.
Gavin Nixon, Strategy 365 Managing Director, said: “AI features are moving faster than the previous twice yearly release waves allowed for.
“Rather than sifting through places like the Microsoft 365 roadmap and multiple product blogs, there’s now a central place for all upcoming features.
“Microsoft has chosen to absorb Dynamics 365 and Power Platform updates into this AI roadmap because all their products are built around AI features now.”
Users can filter roadmap views to the products that they’re interested in, and Microsoft has recommended companies schedule in time a few times a year to gather stakeholders and plan for the next period.
Upcoming features include Critique in the Researcher agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot (coming in December), where responses are generated by GPT and Claude working together, with GPT drafting an initial response and Claude reviewing for increased response accuracy.
In October there will also be a few updates to Copilot Notebooks, which will support JPG, PNG, CSV and TSV files as knowledge sources.
For now, the Microsoft Sales Agent can access richer data, like service tickets, directly in meeting prep, so sales teams can see issues and opportunities before the conversation starts.
