From July 1st, Microsoft will be discontinuing two nonprofit/charity grant offers and increasing the price of Teams Phone and Power BI licences.
Which grant offers are being discontinued?
From July 1st, the Microsoft 365 Business Premium grant and Office 365 E1 grant will no longer be available. Charities and nonprofits that currently have these free licences will be able to use them up until their next renewal date after July 1st, 2025, but after that renewal date, these granted licences will no longer be available.
Our organisation currently uses these licences. What are our options?
Microsoft have recommended that users should be switched to either:
- Microsoft 365 Business Basic – up to 300 granted licences are available to charities and nonprofits *
- Microsoft 365 Business Standard – £2.30 per user, per month
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium – £4.20 per user, per month
* granted licences can only be used for paid employees and executive staff

What are the Teams Phone and Power BI price changes?
Starting on July 1, 2025, the Teams Phone per-user pricing for charities and nonprofits will be:
- Teams Phone Standard – $4.00 per user, per month ($48.00 per user/year)
- Teams Phone with Calling Plan – (country zone 1 – US) $12.32 per user, per month ($147.85 per user/year)
- Teams Phone with domestic calling – (country zone 1 – UK/Canada) $5.10 per user, per month ($61.20 per user/year)

For Power BI, the new prices for charities and nonprofits will be:
- Power BI Pro – $4.20 per user, per month ($50.40 per user/year)
- Power BI Premium Per User – $9.60 per user, per month ($115.20 per user/year

Summary
Although price increases can be a challenge, particularly to charities and nonprofits, Microsoft’s rates are still heavily discounted. That said, it is worth reviewing your internal licence requirements to see which users are best moving to Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Premium, and which users can be moved to granted Microsoft 365 Business Basic licences instead.
