In a bid to make custom machine learning more affordable, Microsoft have significantly reduced the price of many of AI Builder’s capabilities.
What is Microsoft AI Builder?
Microsoft AI Builder is a low-code artificial intelligence (AI) platform that enables users to create custom AI models without requiring extensive coding knowledge. It offers pre-built templates and drag-and-drop interfaces to allow businesses to build AI solutions for a variety of use cases, such as object detection, form processing, and language understanding.
How does Microsoft’s AI Builder pricing work?
For a monthly fee, a number of service credits are acquired. These credits can then be used against Microsoft’s own prebuilt AI models or be spent on your own custom models. Currently, the minimum spend is £377.10 per month, which provides one million service credits.
Which AI builder capability prices have been reduced?
The new lower rates apply to all of Microsoft’s pre-built AI models and a few of the custom models:
- Business Card Reader. Formerly 100 credits per card; now 32 credits – a 68% reduction
- Forms Processing Real-Time Prediction. Formerly 500 credits per page; now 100 credits per page – an 80% reduction
- ID Reader Real-Time Prediction. Formerly 100 credits per page; now 32 credits per page – a 68% reduction
- Invoice Processing Real-Time Prediction. Formerly 500 credits per page; now 32 credits per page – a 94% reduction
- Object Detection Training. For both standard and domains, the price has dropped by 60% for the first 500 images. Any images processed above the 500 threshold remain at 10 credits per image
- Object Detection Real-Time Prediction. Formerly 20 credits per page; now 8 credits per page – a 60% reduction
- Receipt Scanning Real-Time Prediction. Formerly 100 credits per page; now 32 credits per page – a 68% reduction
- Text Analysis Real-Time Prediction. Formerly 20 credits per 1,000 characters; now 2 credits per 1,000 characters – a 90% reduction
- Text Recognition Real-Time Prediction. Formerly 20 credits per image; now 3 credits per image – an 85% reduction
- Translation Real-Time Prediction. Formerly 100 credits per 1,000 characters; now 22 credits per 1,000 characters – a 78% reduction
As a reminder for Power Apps users, those that have either a Power Apps Per User licence or a Power Apps Per App licence are entitled to 500 and 250 free credits per month respectively.
Summary
Although Microsoft’s AI Builder is aimed at the larger organisations, these significant price rate drops will hopefully lead to an increase in uptake from those who had initially been deterred by the previous pricing.
