To further extend the capabilities of Copilot Studio, Microsoft have added complex AI-powered analysis and structured automation via two new features: Deep Reasoning and Agent Flows.
What is Copilot Studio?
For those who are unfamiliar with Copiliot Studio, it is a tool that allows you to create AI assistants, like chatbots, that can assist with tasks, answer questions, and automate processes. It is designed to be easy to use, even for those less technical users, by providing a visual interface where AI-powered agents can be built and customised.
How does Deep Reasoning improve Copilot Studio?
Company employees will often have to carry out complicated tasks that require nuanced business understanding and detailed analysis to reach the correct outcome. But what if you could automate this? Deep Reasoning applies its advanced reasoning models to your business data and context, allowing it to apply the same logic to a task that an employee would. This can involve working through complex datasets, spotting intricate data patterns and making the appropriate decisions based on the analysed data.
Here is an example of Deep Reasoning at work:
All of this logic happens in the background; you don’t have to manually choose between the standard AI models or Deep Reasoning. The platform determines which is required and when, without the need for input, but a user is still able to step in and override this logic if required.
This functionality is currently in preview and the official documentation can be found here.
What are Agent Flows?
Reaching General Availability on March 31st, Agent Flows are structured, rules-based workflows that incorporate AI actions to produce predictable results that can automate almost any task. They follow predefined paths, executing tasks with speed and consistency.
They are best used to handle predictable and repetitive scenarios, such as document processing, regular financial approvals, and compliance tasks. By combining structured automation with appropriate AI actions, they can simplify complex decision points such as conditions, exceptions, and loops. Agents Flows can operate independently or as skills within existing Copilot Agents.
Agent Flows can be created with natural language or via the graphical user interface, making it easy for everyone to build them within Copilot Studio.
